Thank
you for all of your service to God and humanity during 2007. As we
begin this new year of 2008 we greet it with great joy and excitement.
Before we look at some of our goals for the new year, I would like
to review some of our achievements of the past year.
With the addition of new staff and staff assistants as
well as the wonderful support of the support staff, we have been able
to develop a reorganization of the centers administration which
we are confident will allow us to accommodate our current members
as well as to support an influx of many new members. Recently we were
able to hold a primary course welcoming 27 new members to spread the
Light of God, and we set ourselves a goal to hold the primary course
in March welcoming 40 new members. In addition we set the goals of
receiving 40 more kamikumite in June, 50 in September, and 40 in November,
for a total of 170 this year. We are confident that working together
with increased resolution we can achieve these goals.
In the second part of 2007, we were also able to begin
the demolition of the building which will be the new location of the
New York Sho Dojo. After years of facing many challenges, I feel confident
that this significant project is now moving forward in a very positive
way.
With your continued support and prayers I have no doubt
that we will be able to offer to the Creator God a beautiful new center
in the heart of New York City. Our city is the model of a multi-colored
tapestry of people of every color, characteristic, and skill created
by God living and working side by side. I pray together with all of
you that the new center will draw many more citizens of this city
to receive the Light of God and use our material blessings toward
spirit-centered ways of life.
As I look back over the past year I realize that many
members of our center have experienced great cleansings and difficulties.
Some of our members and some family members have passed on. We extend,
as a family, our deepest sympathies and condolences. Let us all do
our best to extend support and caring for one another.
As we leave the old year and begin the new, let us continue
to give the Light of God to more and more of our family, friends,
and neighbors. When we give the Light of God and make the divine principles
available to everyone we meet, we continue a joyful spirit like that
seen in the holiday season. Once again, on behalf of all of the staff,
I would like to wish you and your family and friends the happiest
new year.
I look forward to working with
all of you in the days and months ahead.
With my deepest regards, Akinobu KanadaCenter
