As
in any spiritual path, Sukyo Mahikari is very much a personal
journey toward God. Regardless of one's background, spiritual
beliefs, or practices, it is generally necessary to stretch
oneself in some way to fully appreciate and embrace this spiritual
path. At the same time, there is a profundity in the practice
and teachings. As a result, many people believe that this path
has provided them a direct, effective, and educative way to
grow closer to God.
Sukyo Mahikari teachings are about universal
principles rather than rules, and it is up to people to decide
for themselves how to apply the teachings. Many people practice
the art of True Light because they observe that they or other
people benefit from it. How such benefits will develop is not
easy to predict since the primary purpose of receiving God's
Light is to purify and nurture the spirit, and not to cure a
medical or psychological problem.
Sukyo Mahikari teaches that through the experience
of receiving God's Light, people can gradually discern
that there is a close interconnection and relationship between
spirit, mind, and body, and that within this relationship, spirit
is of prime importance. This is expressed as the principle
of spirit first, mind next, body follows. Through their
experience of the art of True Light, people can appreciate the
importance of cultivating a positive and holistic attitude and
of becoming more God-centered. |
